please sir, the dog ate my blog

I think this is the longest I have gone with out blogging since I started! Sorry about that Mr blog. My list of excuses includes being away on a conference, bank holidays, the internet being a bit less that useful at home, going to the cinema, drinking mojitos and entertaining Jon's lovely parents. And the dog ate my blog.

I took a picture of myself today to show you how crappy I was feeling and am rather cheesed off to find out that I look great! I'm having a good hair day! For once I actually like a picture of me. Plan foiled.

Exercise may be my friend, and infact is still my friend but this morning I managed to hurt my back putting a towel on my head! Rubbish. That's almost as bad as my gran breaking her wrist on a lettuce (no really) Fortunatley the first thing I did was start stretching and manipulating my back to see if I could pop it back in to place. No such luck, but the fact that it's now only a little bit annoying rather than agonising tells me it was a good idea.

I'm really missing the classes being on and I'm also aware of the fact that soon I'm going to be too busy to attend some of them with work and personal commitments.

I think the time has come my children, to....... join a real proper gym. dun dun duuuuuuun!
6 months ago this was one of the things that frightened me the most. I was convinced I'd be stared at, treated badly, and would join up only to watch my direct debit do all the exercise while I hid at home. Fortunately at the moment I can't wait - and the thought of a lovely shiny swimming pool and jacuzzi is very tempting. The main concern is the £60 a month I'm going to have to start shelling out. Ouch. Time to get creative. I wonder if you can haggle your membership fees? Perhaps the doctor can help? Perhaps I could learn how to hypnotise them in to letting me in for free?

who knows. Answers on a postcard please.

This week is confusing me as the bank holiday has put me out of sync with the world. Going for girly(ish) drinks on friday with Nic. I may also eat a large burger and some chips.

#1 don't for one minute think that you will be heckled at the gym. If they do--find another gym ASAP. I always figured for God's sake you judge my shopping cart, how can you judge me on a treadmill!
#2 gyms are expensive. If you can, try to find one newly opening. They often will waive enrollment fees to attract new patrons. Also, this is a good time of year as attendance is so low, often deals will be made for the end of summer. Go for as long and expensive a contract as you can afford, it'll be worth it in the long run. Gyms play pricing games banking on people not sticking with it for the long run, so the upfront costs might be higher but you end up paying less over the years.
I joined one club for $700 (US), that included 3 years and 6 personal trainer visits. Now I pay only $99/year. This year I joined a 2nd club closer to my work. The club was newly opening so I only paid $25/month plus a one-time $40 for the electronic key.
Look around, watch advertising. You can get a deal. Try your local schools/colleges also.
